Centre for Advancement of Chinese Language Education and Research (CACLER) under the Faculty of Education, the University of Hong Kong was awarded by Education Development Fund to implement the two-year project ‘University-School Support Programme: Supporting Secondary Schools in the Teaching and Learning of Chinese for non-native learners’ from 2011 to 2013. With the aim of enhancing the capability of teachers in the teaching of Chinese Language for Non-Chinese speaking students, a teacher handbook entitled ‘Overcome obstacles to Success: Effective Approaches of teaching Chinese for Non-Chinese speaking students’ is published in 2013. It has been summarized part of the outcomes on pedagogies and teaching materials which were developed based on theoretical framework practical support experience in this project.
