Abstract:
The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) stands as one of the world's most influential educational assessments, evaluating the knowledge and skills of 15-year-old students across over 90 countries and economies every three years. As a cornerstone of international educational benchmarking, PISA provides invaluable insights into how well education systems prepare young people for real-world challenges.
This conference will explore how large-scale assessment results like PISA can effectively inform curriculum development and educational policy-making. We will examine Hong Kong's educational landscape through the lens of PISA data, with particular focus on our performance in PISA 2022, where Hong Kong students demonstrated strong capabilities in mathematics, science, and reading, while also revealing areas for continued improvement.
Conference Highlights:
1. The Significance and Value of PISA Understanding PISA's role in global educational assessment and its impact on educational reform worldwide.
2. Leveraging Large-Scale Assessment for Curriculum Development How PISA results can guide evidence-based curriculum design and pedagogical improvements.
3. Hong Kong's PISA Performance Analysis Comprehensive review of Hong Kong students' achievements in PISA 2022, including trends in mathematics, science, and reading literacy, as well as emerging competencies in creative thinking.
4. Research Methodology: Network Psychometrics Analysis Advanced statistical analysis of PISA Hong Kong data using network psychometrics to identify positive and negative student and family factors that significantly impact Hong Kong students' academic performance.
5. Future Outlook for Hong Kong Education Implications for Hong Kong's educational development and strategies for maintaining excellence while addressing emerging challenges.
