The project aims to
(a) gear up the professional capacity of schools in helping their NCS students team Chinese;
(b) enhance the Chinese language proficiency of NCS students in schools under support and strengthen their foundation for further study of Chinese at secondary levels;
(c) provide an impetus for sustaining the momentum of development in schools admitting NCS students through disseminating the valuable practices and experiences generated;
(d) develop system knowledge about how to help NCS students learn Chinese and facilitate their smooth transition from primary to secondary education effectively in Hong Kong.
The E&T Project provides professional research-based school support for 16 primary schools and 8 secondary schools annually on developing school-based Chinese curriculum, effective culturally responsive pedagogies and related materials during two school years from 9/2020 to 8/2022.
